Laundry Folding Robot

The Idea: 

• Create an automated laundry robot for individuals with disabilities.

• It should distinguish between types of clothes and fold accordingly.

What I did: 

• Team Lead and acted as a Systems Engineer, led a team of eight across four subgroups.

• Worked on initial concept ideation, actuation design, CAD and 3D printing, electronics and wiring.

• Coded the entire GUI in Python for an RPi 5.

The Result: 

• Folded all 15 garments successfully during the live Senior Design Expo demo.

  • No misclassifications or mechanical failures during the demo.

• User simply places garment then presses two buttons on touch screen.

• Achieved 3rd Place at Senior Design Expo.
